Green Schools

We are in our second year of the Green School Flag program on 'Biodiversity', our fifth green flag! Last year the children had great fun making bug hotels and learning about birds and insects. Ms Ryan and Mr. Breathnach have more in store for us this year with competitions, the golden boot award and lots of exciting gardening projects. The green schools notice board has updates on monthly activities. You will find this notice board next to the library door. There will be a volunteer sheet on the notice board if anyone would like to sign up and help us create a better environment and a new look in our school.
Of course we continue to encourage parents / guardians and children to come to school either by walking, cycling, or park-and-striding. We will also remind all our school community to remember to reduce, re-use and recycle waste, to conserve energe and water, and to be aware of our environment in general.

THINK….ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT
BONFIRES... THE BURNING OF WASTE IS ILLEGAL
The burning of waste is illegal and Bonfires are very dangerous for wildlife, especially hedgehogs which often crawl into them to sleep. They are also very bad for people and the environment with the smoke they create. Rather than having a bonfire there are plenty of other things to do like dressing up and hosting a party.
